The result is a real Postgres schema with policies on, in your project, reviewed by you.

  • Read-only by default

    Table and policy tools return the SQL as a dry run until you turn writes on.

  • You approve the writes

    Sign in with OAuth, pick the projects and scopes, and keep the Read-only switch if you want.

  • Every write is audited

    Changes go through the Management API and land in the project audit log.

  • Plan limits still apply

    The same limits and roles as the dashboard and CLI, enforced by the server.

Secure by the way it is built.

What Base does, stated plainly and documented in the open.

  • Policies are the boundary

    Your frontend talks to the database directly and Postgres row level security decides what each user may read or change.

  • Keys with clear roles

    A publishable key is safe in client code. A secret key is for servers only and is refused in browsers.

  • MFA and enterprise SSO

    Add a second factor with TOTP, and connect OIDC or SAML identity providers.

  • Tenant isolation

    Tenant claims travel in tokens, so policies can keep each workspace apart.

What is PotaLab?

PotaLab is a lab that makes tools to build, run and use software, for developers, teams and everyday people. Every product shares one PotaLab account, so your team and billing follow you from one tool to the next.

What is PotaLab Base?

Base is the first product: the backend behind your frontend. It gives each project a Postgres database, auth, storage, realtime, functions and flows, already set up.

Do I need a separate account for each product?

No. One PotaLab account signs you in everywhere, and organizations, members and roles are shared across products.

Can I use my company identity provider?

Yes. Enterprise SSO with OIDC and SAML is supported for sign-in. See the plans for which tier includes it.

Will there be a free plan?

A free plan is planned for launch, with larger plans for bigger quotas. Prices and limits may change before launch.

Which products are coming next?

We will announce them when they are ready. Some will be for teams and everyday users. They will appear in your account and work with Base from day one.
