Introduction

PotaLab Base is the backend product of PotaLab: a hosted platform. Each project gets its own Postgres database with an auto-generated REST API, its own users and auth settings, file storage, realtime channels and webhooks. You talk to all of it from the browser, a mobile app or your server with one TypeScript SDK, @potalab/base.

Your Row Level Security (RLS) policies are the security boundary: the frontend queries the database directly, and Postgres decides which rows each user may see or change.

  • Database: Postgres with a REST API (PostgREST syntax) and typed queries.
  • Auth: email and password, magic links, one-time codes, social providers, MFA, enterprise SSO and branded email templates.
  • Multi-tenancy: optional workspaces with roles and invitations for B2B apps.
  • Storage: private and public buckets with signed URLs.
  • Realtime: database changes, broadcast and presence over one WebSocket.
  • Webhooks and integrations: reliable outbound webhooks, HTTP calls and email from SQL.
  • Management API and CLI: script everything you can click in the dashboard.
