Plans and limits

PotaLab Base plans are Free, Go and Pro. Prices and the exact allowances of each plan are on the pricing page.

Some features are included only in certain plans:

Feature Plan
Enterprise SSO (enterprise_sso) Pro
Custom email templates (email_templates) Go and Pro
Custom SMTP (custom_smtp) Go and Pro
Point-in-time restore (pitr) Pro
Daily backups you can restore Go (kept 3 days) and Pro (kept 14 days); Free has no backups

A write that creates, enables or changes a gated setting outside your plan answers:

{ "error": { "code": "feature_not_in_plan", "details": { "feature": "enterprise_sso", "plan_id": "go" } } }

with HTTP status 402. Reading, deleting, disabling and removing gated settings stays allowed. After a downgrade your stored configuration is kept but becomes inactive: for example SSO sign-in answers 402, custom templates are ignored in favor of the built-in ones, and project SMTP is ignored.

Use GET /v1/projects/{ref}/features in the Management API to see which features your project has.

Plans also limit usage, for example monthly active users, database size, storage, monthly API requests, egress, realtime connections and messages, webhooks, projects per organization, members per organization and the maximum file size.

How limits behave:

  • Projects and members per organization: creating more answers 402 plan_limit_exceeded with details: { limit, value, plan_id }.
  • Monthly active users: sign-up answers 402 plan_limit_exceeded once reached.
  • Database size: writes (POST, PATCH, PUT, DELETE) answer 402 plan_limit_exceeded while over the limit; reads keep working.
  • API requests and egress: requests answer 402 once the monthly allowance is used.
  • Realtime messages: broadcasts and new joins are refused.
  • Storage: uploads answer 413 quota_exceeded, and the plan caps each bucket’s maximum file size.
  • Rate limits: requests above the per-project rate limit answer 429. Honor Retry-After; the SDK retries idempotent requests automatically.

Usage is checked periodically (about every five minutes), so enforcement can lag slightly behind actual usage. Upgrading your plan lifts the limits for your projects. What happens when a limit is reached also depends on the plan: Free and Go block, Pro throttles.
